ATVA Round 3

ATV MX Budds Creek

Round 3 of the national quad motocross championship series kicked off this past weekend at Budds Creek in Mechanicsville, Maryland.  Joel Hetrick took the overall win at round 3 with two second place finishes.  The rocky soil made for tough track conditions at the track for all levels of racers. Competition was close and the ruts were everywhere which made for surprising results for both pro motos.  All eyes were on Chad Wienen to see if he could keep his winning streak alive.  Wienen took the first moto win leaving him with five straight victories but couldn't manage to make it six wins.  He was still happy for a podium finish as well as keeping his points lead of 15 points over the competition of Jon Natalie on the Can Am Motorworks team.

ATVA Round 2

Natalie and Hetrick on the Podium

Round 2 of the ATVA Motocross Championships was held at Muddy Creek Raceway this past weekend.  The weather held off until the end of the first moto in the pro class, but the rain did not stop the Motoworks team racers.  Natalie took the lead by the third lap but unfortunately slipped out on a corner and fell back to the number two spot leaving the results with Wienen first, Natalie second, and Hetrick in third.  In the second moto, Natalie got a good start leaving him in the top five.  He worked his way up through the competition to the number two spot.  Hetrick started off in fifth place then made his way to second  After a while he dropped back to third place and stayed there all the way until the end of moto two.  Weinen took the overall once again with both moto wins and a great start to his season.

ATVMX Season Opener

Wienen goes 1-1 at Aonia Pass MX Park

The season opener for the ATVMX National Championship was held this past weekend in Washington, Georgia.  Races kicked off on Saturday at Aonia Pass Motocross Park.  Starting off the season well Chad Wienen took two first place finishes in both of his pro motos.  In the first moto, it was Josh Upperman on the Baldwin Honda that got the holeshot and led for the early part of the race.  It didn't take long for Wienen to pass Upperman on his new Yamaha ride.  Joel Hetrick was looking for a good finish in moto 1 but unfortunately went off the track after making an attempt to pass Wienen for the 1st place position.  In moto two, Upperman took another holeshot but was passed early on by Jon Natalie and Chad Wienen.  Natalie and Wienen battled it out until the last corner when Wienen came out on top and took the moto win.  The results for the opening weekend were as followed; Wienen in first, Natalie second, and Upperman taking the number three spot.
